| Our Special Needs Co-ordinator is Mrs P Choo
All children are accepted as individuals and we aim to adapt to the individual needs of each, whether specially gifted or having difficulties. Children identified as having special educational needs will have arrangements made for them that will follow school policy and the DfEE code of practice. This means that parents will be made aware of any concern at an early stage. An individual learning programme called on IEP will be drawn up and reviewed regularly and parents/guardians will be given a copy of this and the opportunity to discuss it. If appropriate, the process will follow the range of provision procedure in which parents will be involved and outside agencies will be asked for support. The LEA, detailing the provision needed, may issue, following from this, a Statement of Special Educational Need. Although a lengthy process, home and school need to work closely together in the best interests of the child.
The Governors have adapted much of the school for disabled access for pupils and parents. This upholds the right of disabled people to equal opportunities and the Governors will endeavour to maintain and improve these facilities with the help and support of the Local Education Authority. An electric lift has been installed between the main Assembly Hall and the Dining Hall. A new utility room has now been built with full facilities for the disabled, both adult and children.
